Going Back to Home Phones

Do you remember the days before everyone on earth carried around a cell phone in their pocket? If you needed to get ahold of a friend, you called them when you knew they could answer. If you were out and about with your family, you didn't need to worry about staring at a little screen all day long to check emails and look for text messages. I was eager to get back to that simple way of life, which is why I banned cell phones for my family and installed traditional phone service. My blog discusses the benefits and drawbacks of traditional landlines, so that you can decide how you want to approach communication at home.

Tips For Keeping Your Smartphone Safe From Damage

Smartphones represent a significant investment of funds in a piece of technology. Unfortunately, you carry around this piece of technology with you all the time, making it more likely that you are going to accidentally break it. You probably want to avoid breaking your smartphone for as long as possible in order to make sure that you don't have to constantly be expending funds to repair or replace your smartphone. Here are some tips for keeping your phone safe from damage.

1. Get a Glass Screen Protector

Your first option is to get a glass screen protector. A glass screen protector is essentially another thin sheet of glass that you put over the glass that is already on the front of your smartphone. This piece of glass does two things. It will take most of the impact during a fall, since when your phone hits the ground, the bulk of the force of the impact is going to be transferred to the outermost layers of the phone. This will allow you to drop your phone and have a decreased risk of your phone's screen breaking. It will also keep your phone's screen from being touched as often, which means that there is less of a chance that your screen will break. A high quality screen protector will not hinder your experience with the touchscreen at all.

2. Get a Case That Surrounds Your Phone

You also want to be sure that you get a case that adequately protects your phone. The best types of cases are those that surround your phone around the edges of the screen and totally on the back. The reason for this is that it reduces the chances that your phone will fall out of the case should you accidentally drop it, as well as that any impact to the back casing of the phone itself will not be as great because it will be transferred to the outermost case. This type of case will also keep the back of your phone from getting nicked. You don't want to just get a case that sticks to the back of your phone because this is not going to provide you with much security.

3. Get a Case That Won't Need to Ever Be Removed

Finally, if you buy a case that constantly needs to be removed in order for you to reach the charging port or the headphone jack, you are going to constantly be exposing your phone to danger and making your case pretty much useless. Avoid this by simply getting a case that doesn't cover any of the areas of your phone that you need to access.
